We all have come a long way (SkillsTrain college, myself and all students of the college). I started off on a SkillsTrain IT programme without thinking of the implications of doing so. Now, I have realised the impact of my actions which comes with huge responsibilities IT-wise. Having completed the first two parts of my programme with the college, I almost gave up on carrying on with the third part (CCNA) due to sickness, finance, etc. I didn't give up due to support from family and friends, now I am happy I continued. Within just four weeks I've managed to complete the entire Section 2 Part B of CompTIA A+ course, having a full time job, working on shift pattern (usually 10 hours per day) and looking after my family. I've been studying very hard, pushing myself to complete this section within a week and my aim was not to get below 90%. I've achieved that. Now I'm waiting to submit TMA30, do the revision suplement and pass the exam. I have just restarted the course after a 2 year break. in that 2 years I have been divorced, re-married and bought a new house. The last experience I have had with studying is 27 years ago while at school. It has taken me some time to get back in the flow and trying to allocate time to study. Since restarting the course I have managed to repair and rebuild an old computer for my kids to use for their school homework. I saw an old PC but it is a Dell P4 that was being skipped by my employer. I managed to purchase new Ram and Operating system. I formatted the origional hard disk (One of the proviso's for having the PC) and upgraded the RAM from 512Mb to 1GB and reinstalled Windows XP. I also connected a wireless router to the PC and connected it to the Internet for my kids. Thanks to SkillsTrain I can now do this for my kids, which means a great deal to both me and them. At 61 and still learning it is never to late to teach an old dog new tricks. I never knew I was far behind the world's IT until I enrolled at SkillsTrain to take CCNA to bridge the gap. The most significant accomplishment for me was my new job. After a long wait, I have moved into the IT industry. I am now working as a Technical Sales Advisor. Prior to this I was working as a part-time cleaner! It is not easy at my age (62) to admit that there is a crying need to "start again" and re-build a skill or trade, from the ashes of the old, following a double heart attack, and told after my (18) months recovery, to have to learn to learn again a new and rather alien concept of working makes me nervous, and a bit lost sometimes but very determined to prove I CAN do it, so here's hoping, and thanks anyway for the chance. Before commencing this course I only knew few things about I.T. but now I know things that seems like something I can never understand. I have been refining my studying methods and as each TMA gets harder and harder I still manage to get above 90% and I just know that through effort I will keep it this way! I knew a bit about PCs before I started, but now I know a lot more than I could ever have imagined existed. When I started my A+/N+ training I had difficulties with concentration for at least 30min.Due to some family hardships I had been dealing with it was even worse to carry on studying.I realised how an opportunity it would be in changing my life by persevering in pursuing my goals with this course.Today I have gained respect at work because I help my work mates and family friends with issues they encounter when working on their PCs. Recently a businessman I meet through a friend during a conference promised me a good job in his company in IT as soon as I completed the course. My skills in computers is getting better and my prospects in technology are like start of a new dawn. All the money I used to spend on IT technicians is now staying in my pocket. I love this course. WITH MY LITTLE KNOWLEDGE OF HOW TO USE THE COMPUTER(PC, I DECIDED TO ENHACE MY CHANCE OF GAINING AN OPPORTUNITY TO WORK IN AN IT COMPANY. AFTER I HAD DONE ALL MY RESEARCH ON THE BEST IT TRAINING SCHOOL, SKILLSTRAIN SOUNDED LIKE SOMETHING THAT CAN DELIVER ME FROM MY PROBLEMS. SO WENT ON AND SIGNED UP FOR A COURSE IN PC HARDWARE AND MAINTENANCE. I'M FINDING IT REALLY INTERESTING STUDYING. SINCE I JOINED SKILLSTRAIN MY WHOLE LIFE HAS BEEN TRANSFORMED AND I CAN'T WAIT TO SIT FOR MY EXAMS. I JUST WANT TO SAY A BIG THANK YOU FOR MY COURSE WORK WHICH IS EASY TO UNDERSTAND. The most significant accomplishment for me was my new job. After a long wait, I have moved into the IT industry. I am now working as a Technical Sales Advisor. Prior to this I was working as a part-time cleaner! I have to say that 2007 has been a bad year for me, I am disabled due to 2 back operations in 97, so I decided to take this course on A+ & N+ but this year I have had 2 bad car crashes which has made my back and hips a lot worse and my doctors have told me that I wont work again, due to the medication I am now taking, so the hope I had doing this course has been for nothing apart from proving to myself that I could have done it.
