I am a 41 year old lorry driver who is totally fed up with with the job I am doing. I work a day-night shift and get home in the early hours of the morning. The Live Internet Training was awesome. Well done guys. A few obvious points in the course that needed to be covered but still a few things in there I never knew. Very well presented I had a brain tumour removed in March this year, and for the following few months was unable to function without someone elses help (I was a very indepentant person previously). I have now begun learning again with Skillstrain even though I had to resign from my job. Hopefully I will be able to complete this and then look to a total change in both outlook and job prospect. Using the course information and the internet to identify a problem(UNBOOTABLE_VOLUME) and repair my laptop. This involved going into the recovery mode in the XP installation disk. This identified a faulty disk drive. Disk drive changed problem solved. Also using beeps in BIOS TEST to tell my neighbour to replace keyboard. This also worked. Three weeks ago before getting the Skillstrain material I knew nothing about how to begin to fault find on a PC. Having recovered from a serious car crash 2005/06, I was unable to retain short term information, suffering from blackouts, given the all clear to return to work in April 2007 I am now studying for my MCSA course and feeling confident in being able to study and retain the information learnt. I never find it easy to blow my own trumpet but I feel that I am holding my own really well. My wife suffers from depression, anxiety and severe agrophobia, this has a big impact on both my job and the time available for study. My average for 24 assignments on the A+ is 93%. I am a 40 year old teaching assistant looking for a major change in career direction. With each assignment despite the stresses of my home, the feedback always motivates me to achieve the best I can. In 2005 I started N+/MCSE course honestly I wasn't sure that I am doing good thing. At the beginning I wasn't eager to learn but week after week I used to gain more and more knowledge. I didn't noticed that after 11 months I finished N+ part of the course. So I attempt for N+ exam and passed with great result more than 85%. I was so surprised about my knowledge because I didn't believe in my abilities. After 3 weeks I received certificate and I started looking for a new IT related role. I am writing this with my left hand while the right is suspended in the air covered in bandages. You see, I am a printer by trade. The course I have been doing with skillstrain is my passport to escape the boredom and noise of a factory job. Three weeks ago I had a fight with a printing machine. I managed to get my fingers caught between the rollers and have had major surgery to re-build my fingers. After 6 weeks of studying my course work I have helped out a friend with his pc. he was having problems with his computer booting up.after reading the power supply troubleshooting part,I was able to diagnose that he had a faulty power supply, although he has not replaced the power supply yet I will be replacing it for him once he has bought it,not bad considering 6-8 weeks ago I would not have even give repairing or troubleshooting a second thought. Since joining skillstrain I have COMPLETED my CompTIA A+ and since this has happened I have had a new job from british telecom and I am constantly being asked by potential employers to attend interviews! I am very much looking forward to passing my N+ and my CCNA with skillstrain!! I never thought in my life time I'd be motivated to study! Thanks. I am so proud to be part of this institution. I was not quite sure when I first joined if I could be successful, but I have made immense progress and it is unbelievable what I have achieved. Today, I completed my final tutor marked assignment for the first part of my course with great confidence and am glad to say that I have done very well in the last 10 so am really proud of my self. I am really enjoying this course so far and have learned so much already, although finding the time to study can sometimes be challenging. I am working full time on minimum wage at the moment in an environment where the scenery never changes and redundancy is always lurking around the corner. Due to my poor wages I am still living at home with my family, which isn't the worst thing in the world but being able to afford a place of my own would mean the world to me. I never seem to have much spare time, but most of it seems to slip away on helping other members of my family. My sister is due to be married in September and alot of the responsibilities have been shared out between us and I am also a bridesmaid. My younger sister has just given birth to a little baby boy, so with this and my older sisters wedding coming, our house seems to be constantly filled with visitors. This is not a good thing when they are waking me up early in the morning after I have just worked the night shift! I began this course just over a year ago now and while my progress was slowed considerably while I moved home which had not been planned when I started the course I knew that my study time could be flexible enough for me to be able to get over this obstruction. I've now completed my A+ course and passed the exam and I'm moving swiftly on to my N+ coursework. A year ago I was made redundant and felt I was at a dead end in the industry I am currently qualified for, it was a depressing prospect to feel I was not exploring my full potential so I contacted the Skills Train. Being able to study for a qualification in a field I am extremely interested in whilst being able to study around my current day job has changed my outlook considerably and I look forward to the new prospects that are opening up for me.
